| 3. Recommendation for selection of CE marked products |

| Procedure to have a customerÕs machine CE-marked can be simplified by selecting SMC CE-marked products (certified item). The majority of SMC products (solenoid valves, air cylinders, sensors, etc.) are not required to function individually. Piping, wiring and combining with other products is the normal method of use. In view of this, they are not required to be CE marked. In other words, if a CE mark is applied to a complete machine, fitted components can be exported to member nations of EU and used without CE marking. However, if products that are not certified are used, non-conformance may result during testing. Therefore, the use of CE-marked (or certified) products is recommended for ease of confirmation and simplified preparation of the Technical Construction File. SMC provides CE marking to products to which EMC and Low Voltage Directives have been applied, in accordance with CETOP (European hydraulics and pneumatics Committee) guide lines. |
